During Its Early Years A Private Trolley Line Carried Passengers From The Portage Avenue Car Line To The Club. Polo Was One Of The Games Played There. It Later Burned To The Ground On The Night Of March 24 And Into March25, 1910. People Watched Helplessly As The Building Of Wood And Stucco Went Up In Smoke Since There Was Very Little Firefighting Equipment In The District |

Portable Engine, Return Flue (Smkolestack At Rear And Moved With Horses. Separator Has No Feeder, Grain Elevator Nor Wind Straw Stacker, Just The Carrier To Elevate It. It Took 4 Men To Build The Straw Stack.There Was A Crew Of 20 Men Of 20 Men To Thresh 1000-1200 Bushels A Day. The Steamboat "Victoria" With Sigtryggur Jonasson, The Father Of New Iceland (Now Gimli And Surrounding Area), Mb, On Board. The "Victoria" Was Built In St. Catherines, On, On June 1878. It Was Owned By Sigtryggur Jonasson, Fridgon Dredriksson, And Arni Fredriksson. The "Victoria" Was Sold To Queen Victoria On October 3 In 1887 To Move Troops To The North West Rebellion. The "Victoria" Was Broken Down And Rebuilt A Year Or So Later. Then It Was Moved To Lake Manitoba To The Narrows Area For Fishing And Freighting In Early1900. The Registry Of The "Victoria" Was Given Up In 1907 (Meaning It Was No Longer In Existence). The "Victoria" Was First Owned By Peter Mcarthur, Who Brought The "Victoria" To Lake Manitoba To Move Fish For Booth Fisheries For Three Years (C1897) Until The Government Outlawed Using Trawlers On Lake Manitoba. A Total Of 1,733 Miles Were Travelled By Road And 1,803 Miles By Rail, Or 3,536 Miles In All.
